Primus Summer Camp: Aviation Camp with Projects

Humans have searched for the ability to fly since antiquity. Today we have mastered the ability to fly, yet it still remains an incredibly intricate task combining physics, engineering, meteorology, aerodynamics, and history. We will explore all of these concepts in this five-day class. We learn about airplanes and how they fly. We will study airplane parts and how engines work. Students will learn about aviation and flight. Students will learn about engineering, physics, mechanics, energy, aerodynamics, and meteorology. Students will complete daily projects or experiments. This class can be used as the basis for a Science Fair Project.
Annette the Teacher has been teaching for a very long time. She has over three decades of experience teaching children of all ages. She has a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Biology, Chemistry, and Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. She has homeschooled her own children from Pre-School through (their current) High School. All of her classes are interactive. Annette encourages students to fully participate in class. All of her classes feature hands-on activities and books Annette writes for the class herself. Annette is a published writer, publisher, and artist. She uses her extensive knowledge and experience to create unique classes for every student. She enjoys teaching science, history, art, and cooking classes. She brings history alive with her "Big History ..." classes where students learn about key times in history and complete hands-on projects. "Paint like ... Famous Artists" art classes where students will learn about famous artists and create their own artwork based on the artists' works. "Smart Science" classes where we explore science and complete experiments and projects. Annette knows hands-on, interactive experiences are the best way for children to learn. Annette also has experience working with Special Needs children. She is Mom to a child on the autism spectrum and a child with serious medical needs. She also has worked with children with ADHD. If your child has special needs, please contact Annette so she can work with you and your child. Annette has completed Continuing Education Certification with OER's Big History and World History Projects and the NMNA's Foundation for Teaching and Learning about Native Americans. She completed her Best Start in Life: Early Childhood Development certificate. She is currently working on certifications for working with special needs children and early education, & a TEFL certification. Annette the Teacher is a Licensed Pilot and a Licensed Ground School Instructor.

Scissors are used during our projects. If your student will need assistance using scissors safely, please have an adult nearby. Parents are required to remain off-camera during class.
