Robert’s Callback Club: Monologues for the Stage is a performance-based workshop designed for young actors who want to sharpen their audition skills and elevate their monologue delivery. Whether you're preparing for a school play, community theater production, or professional opportunity, this class offers a focused, supportive space to practice, perform, and receive individualized feedback. Learners will come prepared with two contrasting monologues (1–2 minutes each) that are memorized and performance-ready. These should showcase different tones or styles—for example, one comedic and one dramatic piece. The goal is to help students make bold choices, connect emotionally to the text, and present polished material in a way that feels authentic and engaging. Class Experience: What will be taught: Students will learn how to act truthfully and expressively through monologues, make strong character choices, build confidence in performance, and develop strategies for auditions and callbacks. Topics covered: Character development, physicality, emotional connection, pacing, tone, audition presence, and cold-read adjustments. Structure: Each class begins with a short warm-up and discussion on a relevant acting technique or audition strategy. Then, students will take turns performing one monologue at a time, receiving real-time direction and supportive critique from Robert. Teaching style: Robert brings a dynamic and encouraging approach that balances honesty with empowerment. He guides each student based on their individual strengths, offering actionable feedback to help them grow as performers. Interaction: This class is fully interactive. Students will perform live, respond to feedback, and engage in short group discussions. There are no lectures, slides, or video clips—this is a hands-on acting class designed to simulate real-world audition scenarios. By the end of the course, learners will have a deeper understanding of how to present themselves confidently in front of an audience or casting team, with two strong monologues ready to go.
