I will release four video taped lessons with formatted notes and practice sheets at the beginning of each week. Students are encouraged to post questions on the classroom and students and myself will address all questions in a collaborative forum. I will post a challenge problem mid week that the students can tackle together or submit individual solutions. The students can interact and engage at the level that they are comfortable with. I can be available to conference with students if necessary. The content covered in the eight week session will include: Week 1, March 5 - Day 1; Stem and Leaf Plots and Histograms Day 2; Circle Graphs Day 3; Box and Whisker Plots Day 4; Data Analysis, Changes in Data Values Week 2, March 12 Day 1, Using Data Displays Day 2, Data Distributions Day 3, Collecting Data Day 4, Interpreting Data Week 3, March 19 Day 1, Two-way Tables Day 2, Comparing Populations Day 3, Permutations Day 4, Combinations Week 4, March 26 Day 1, Probabilities of Disjoint and Overlapping Events Day 2, Independent and Dependent Events Day 3, Angle Relationships Day 4, Angles and Parallel Lines Week 5, April 2 Day 1, Angles and Polygons Day 2, Translations Day 3, Reflections Day 4, Rotations and Dilations
Learning Goals
The students will:
- learn appropriate data collection
- Make stem and leaf plots, histograms, circle graphs, two-way tables, and box and whisker plots
- Analyze data by measures of center and spread and distribution
- Choose an appropriate data display
- Calculate permutations and combinations
- Find probabilities of events
- Identify and find angle measures
- Identify congruent angles created by two lines and a transversal
- Find measures of interior and exterior angles of polygons
- Use coordinate geometry to decribe transformations
