This class is designed to loop through the concepts that are covered in the second half of Algebra. It is perfect for the learner that would like to brush up, gain confidence, and have some extra practice before moving into an Advanced Algebra or a Geometry course. I am a licensed math teacher with 13 years of classroom experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry.
Students will receive formatted notes that can be printed out prior to each lesson so they can take notes on the information that I am reviewing. This is an interactive class so the students will be practicing the topics being reviewed. Extra practice will be provided upon request.
The concepts that will be reviewed are:
- Day 1: Properties of exponents; we will be reviewing and practicing all of the properties of exponents.
- Day 2: Exponential functions; we will review, practice and graph exponential growth and decay functions.
- Day 3: Polynomials, adding and subtracting; we will review and practice simplifying polynomial expressions with an emphasis on order of operations.
- Day 4: Polynomials, multiplying and factoring; we review and practice multiplying polynomials and factoring completely.
- Day 5: Graphing quadratic equations; we will focus our review on identifying the factors that modify the graphs of quadratic equations and practice graphing them.
- Day 6: Solving quadratic equations; we will solving quadratic equations by graphing, finding the roots, completing the square and using the quadratic formula.
