Class Experience

Music is an amazing creative outlet that many students can't wait to try! Whether it's with a recorder in school, singing in a choir, starting out with piano or guitar, or an older student in band or just wanting to learn how to read music after playing by ear... but many students, any age, any level, and any instrument feel like reading music or understanding HOW to read new music is challenging and can be frustrating.

I have great news, it's NOT just memorizing. It's learning WHY we read music the way we do, HOW to understand something new put in front of us without knowing the tune, and WHAT it's going to sound like just by looking at it.

These 1-on-1 tutoring classes will include the following (but remember ALL these classes wll be designed FOR the student personally):

How to read music (either just treble clef or both bass and treble for piano)
How music is like an art piece
Finding patterns and clues before we play
What will the piece sound like based on how it looks
Intervals and rhythms
WHY music is written this way
How to sightread quickly and proficiently in any instrument
Why reading music can be fun!

I will create lessons specifically for the student based on the age (younger students will love using pictures, drawings, stories and songs to help with note reading, rhythm and theory), older students will learn how to sightread, understand music writing, and basic music theory in a short time.

I can also tutor students preparing for exams, recitals, auditions, band assistance, theory tests, or just getting that little bit of help with understanding music.
This will not be instrument specific but I have a musical background in piano, guitar, ukulele, flute, recorder, and have tutored many students in schools during music class.

Please message me with what you were wanting to learn or work on with me, I am happy to chat prior to class.

If it is with a specific piece of music please send it to me in the messages prior to first class. If it is specific to an instrument please let me know which one.

I'm looking forward to meeting you soon!!
