1 hour per week. Students are encouraged to practice the in-flight exercises in between classes in order to build their basic skills
Assessment
The instructor will observe and coach each student through the basic maneuver practice sessions and provide timely, relevant feedback in realtime--just like actual flight lessons!

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
(**This course has 2 prerequisites. Please see below.**) Want to learn the basics of piloting an airplane? This is the course for you! Using an online, browser-based flight simulator (no download required), the instructor will teach you basic airplane maneuvers such as takeoff, climb, level-off, turns, and descents. Learn how aircraft instruments work and how to use them in controlling an airplane. Learn about the atmosphere and its effects on flight. Master the basics of "pitch and power." Learn and apply the "control and performance" technique in a hands-on flight environment. Learn and use standard pilot terminology. 

Using screen-sharing, the instructor will demonstrate each maneuver while explaining it, then coach the students as each practices exercises designed to master the techniques. This is a fun and highly engaging course aimed at the young aviation enthusiast. Students will graduate with an understanding of key theories and practices of flight.

This course has two prerequisites: 
  1. Aviation Science: The 4 Forces of Flight
  2. Stunt Pilot: How Pilots Make Airplanes Do What They Want

Students will need a computer with a keyboard with arrow keys (a mouse or a joystick can be used in place of arrow keys). To use this flight simulator, you will need a WebGL compatible web browser.
