What will be taught? In this course, students will explore a variety of historical mysteries and conspiracies, learning how to analyze evidence, evaluate different theories, and develop critical thinking skills as they uncover the stories behind unsolved historical events. What topics will you cover? The course covers intriguing topics such as the Lost Colony of Roanoke, the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, the curse of King Tutankhamun's tomb, the Bermuda Triangle, Stonehenge, and the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. How is your class structured? The class is structured over 8 weeks, with each week focusing on a different historical mystery. Each session includes a mix of presentations, discussions, and interactive activities. The final week allows students to present their own research on a mystery of their choice. How will you teach? I will teach using a combination of interactive lectures, group discussions, hands-on activities, and multimedia elements like slides and video clips. Lessons are designed to be engaging and accessible, with accommodations provided as needed to support all learners. What's your teaching style? My teaching style is student-centered, focusing on engaging students through interactive and varied instructional methods. I emphasize critical thinking and encourage students to explore different perspectives while ensuring the material is accessible to all learning styles. How much will learners get to interact with you? This class is self-paced, and will utilize videos for each student to access. Office hours will be on a scheduled basis.

Students will learn to analyze historical evidence, assess the validity of different theories, and form well-reasoned conclusions about historical mysteries
Students will practice researching historical events, using both primary and secondary sources to gather and evaluate information.

Introduction to Historical Mysteries and Conspiracies
What defines a historical mystery?
Difference between historical fact, fiction, and conspiracy theories.
Famous examples and what to expect in the course.
Lesson 2:
The Mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke
Background of the Roanoke Colony.
Theories: Assimilation with local tribes, Spanish attack, or something else?
Lesson 3:
The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart
Biography of Amelia Earhart and her final flight.
Theories: Crash and sink, captured by the Japanese, or survived and lived under another identity?
Lesson 4:
The Curse of King Tutankhamun’s Tomb
Howard Carter’s discovery of the tomb in 1922.
The deaths linked to the curse and possible explanations.

Learning Needs
I provide individualized instruction and accommodations tailored to each student's unique learning requirements. I incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, such as visual aids, hands-on activities, and flexible pacing.
Parental Guidance
This course is designed to be appropriate for middle school students, with content focused on historical mysteries and conspiracies that are intriguing and educational. The topics covered, such as the Lost Colony of Roanoke, the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, and the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, are presented in a way that is engaging without being frightening or upsetting.
No graphic or disturbing content is included, and all discussions are age-appropriate, emphasizing critical thinking and historical analysis. There are no official ratings for any media content used in the course, as any video clips or slides are carefully selected to be suitable for a middle school audience. Additionally, no third-party tools requiring student accounts are used in this course.
