Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Is Leia Skywalker Organa Solo one of you favorite princesses? In this class, we will learn all about the character Leia Skywalker Organa Solo's life journey in the Star Wars saga. We will learn about the character traits that make Leia a vital female leader and hero of the Rebel Alliance. We will discuss her dedication and fearlessness in trying to end the tyranny of the Empire and The First Order. We will also learn about her force sensitivity as sister to Luke Skywalker and daughter of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala.

After learners have gone through Leia's full background and history in my lecture, they will engage in an interactive discussion about their thoughts and opinions about the character. They will also use their critical thinking skills to answer discussion questions on "what if" scenarios. Examples of these are, "What if Leia would have chosen to be a part of the Empire instead of being a rebel leader?" and "What if Leia had never been born?"

There will be slides, pictures, and video clips for the students to read and view during the class.

The only required experience or knowledge learners should have before attending the class is to be familiar with Leia Skywalker Organa Solo. It would definitely not hurt them to watch or re-watch the Star Wars movies, beginning with A New Hope.

I have been teaching for 18 years in elementary education. Not only do I teach character traits, one of the main skills I teach in Reading and English is critical thinking, which is to think more deeply into and beyond the stories or subjects. I'm also very knowledgeable as a Star Wars fanatic and I am absolutely involved in the saga.
