Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
  • Students will learn about different topics in science, such as physics, chemistry, elements, anatomy, and chromatography. Students will learn about the Scientific Method and the STEAM/STEM Design Process. Students will conduct simple hands on activities, projects, and experiments. Students will be able to discuss and analyze their findings and results. Students will be able to have meaningful and scientific conversations with their peers.
I have been a classroom teacher for 18 years and I have taught third grade for the last 11 years. STEAM/STEM is one of the many themes I have taught more times than I can count. Science is a huge passion of mine.
I will remind students and parents a week before each session, but I will also list here.
Week 1- several pieces of paper (preferably construction paper or copy paper), tape, and about 15 books or so
Week 2- food coloring, cup or jar, vegetable oil, water, Alka-Seltzer tablets, salt
Week 3- different color mini marshmallows, toothpicks, marker or sharpie, glue, index cards, paper plates, M&Ms or Skittles

Week 5- 5 different color non permanent markers, 5 white coffee filters, pencil, 5 cups of water, 5 black pipe cleaners, string, and scissors
Play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.
