Description

Class Experience

This class will let your young writers combine their love of words with their love of the visual arts.  If they don't already enjoy writing poetry, this class will ease them in through playful practice.  They'll also get to look at several examples written by others.

Color poems teach students how to describe colors through using the five senses.

Concrete poems are actually written in the shapes of  poems' topics.  If the poem is about running shoes, a basketball, or a meringue pie, those...

I'm a poetry nut!  I love to read poems, and I love to write them.  Kids are drawn to the Color and Concrete forms of poetry.  I find that young writers often discover their creative abilities through learning these great poetic forms.

I'll provide the prompting for writing during the session.  

*  lined-paper and unlined paper (for concrete poems)
*  pencils/erasers

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
