Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner Level
In this engaging and supportive writing class, learners will have the opportunity to expand their imaginations, stretch their thinking, share their ideas, opinions and knowledge, AND improve their writing skills - all in a flexible format where each class stands alone. Join for one or two classes, or stay for the full school year (July 2025-May 2026) (September 2025-July 2026). This class is designed for emergent writers who may struggle to write full sentences, intermediate writers who can write short sentences, and even more advanced writers who can express their ideas fluently. Here’s what you can expect:

1.	Independent Writing Projects: Each week, we will explore a new writing style. Since each session is stand-alone, students can join anytime without needing previous lessons.

2.	Diverse Writing Topics: Writing activities will range from storytelling, descriptive writing, and poetry to opinion pieces, informational writing and reflections. Each class focuses on a single type of writing.

3.	Creative Expression: Alongside writing, learners can illustrate their work to bring their stories and ideas to life.

4.	Inclusive Environment: Neurodiverse learners are warmly welcomed. I’ll meet each learner where they are, tailoring my approach to their unique needs. Please reach out to me if you want to discuss your child’s individual learning needs.

5.	Microphone Etiquette: I welcome and encourage conversation during class! Learner microphones will rarely be muted. Only if background noises interfere with the class experience will I gently request muting.

6.	Parental Support: Parents, feel free to stay nearby if your child needs assistance. However, allow me to guide and support them during class.

Questions and Concerns: If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to ensure a positive learning journey for everyone.

This class aligns with key Common Core State Standards for writing, focusing on descriptive, creative, opinion, reflective, informative, and narrative writing.

Please note that this schedule is subject to last minute changes based on student interest.
