In this 6 session class, students each week will participate by exploring Google Earth Projects. Through these classes, students will explore the world, as well as answer questions about each location by navigating through links to learn about famous places. Students will navigate through Google Earth as they visit important places in various different projects. This series of ongoing classes will follow the following format: Session 1: The Ancient 7 Wonders of the World, and other well known Wonders referenced in history Session 2: Famous Statues of the World Session 3: The World's Tallest and Deepest points Session 4: The Rain forests of the World Session 5: Under the Sea- deep sea exploration (including famous shipwrecks) Session 6: Famous Monuments Each week, students will follow the following lesson format for content: Video- students will watch a prerecorded video and complete a notetaker for their records while they watch the video. Students may also navigate through Google Earth during the lesson to look at the locations being shared. Answer keys will be provided every Friday. Practice Activity- Students will receive an activity to complete each week pertaining to the weekly topic. Daily Questions- Students will receive daily questions (5 a week) to answer in the classroom for a discussion. Students will receive feedback to their answers each week Review Games- Students will receive weekly games from Kahoot to practice their content. Subscriptions are not required to play and weekly links will be provided in the classroom each week by Friday of that week. A final Kahoot review will be provided in the final week for review. Assessment- Students will receive a final assessment in the final week to review content learned from the course to demonstrate mastery. While students do not require any background knowledge for this class about these locations, students will need to watch a tutorial video prior to class to learn how to navigate through Google Earth and use its features for ease of access during class. Students will also be switching between screens, so parental guidance is suggested to help with the transition. A video will also be provided at the end of the course to show students how to create their own project for future use. This will be a pre-recorded video.
Learning Goals
Students will explore the world and learn about famous places and nature while using Google Earth to explore. Students will become more proficient in using Google Earth.

I am a 5th grade teacher, and have taught middle school science for 8 years from 6-8th grade. I am licensed as a science teacher from 6-12 grade, with a Masters in Science Education. I have also hosted District Level and State Level professional development in North Carolina on the implementation of Google Earth into the classroom for core subjects including math, science, history, and literature study. . I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention.
