I do not require any home work, but would love to see the character you created via sharing an image of your pen and paper character sheet, or a link from dndbeyond or even just an email describing the character and there base stats.

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
What is D&D
The first week, we will go over the basic rules and mechanics; The roles of the Dungeon Master and the Player characters, going over what dice are used along with their names and get you familiarized with common terms and phrases used in D&D.
Lesson 2:
Character creation and Dndbeyond
We will dive into creating your own character. I will show briefly how you can make your character old-school, with pen and paper, but you will need the Dungeons and Dragons Player's handbook to compete a character this way. The rest of the class we will be using Dndbeyond.com to make your character. This can be done with a free account.
Lesson 3:
Leveling up a character and how to role play
The student will learn how to level up their character, and see how characters grow as they level up. We will also learn what roleplay is and the different styles of roleplay there are in D&D. This includes crafting a better back story to make a character feel more alive, coming up with fun personalities you can add to your character, using a fun voice to help get into character, and other ways to play such as 1st person vs 3rd person narration.
Lesson 4:
Combat and how to use the Virtual table top Roll20
This week is all about how combat works and how to use Roll20, my online Virtual table top of choice. Students do not need to use roll20 for this class but can use a free account to play D&D online with friends or in one of my classes. We will also go over the rules that come into play, only during combat. I will show some example combats to help explain the rules along with showing several enemy types, and some example characters.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
In this class I may talk about monsters or bad guys in general terms and describe some combat to show how it works in D&D Example the warrior swings his sword hitting the robber in the side but the robber turns and stabs him in the leg with a hidden dagger.
Supply List
A note book or piece of paper and pen to take down notes can help with learning and remembering but are not required.
