*** For a better class experience please print the files attached ** This class is best suited for students that have not been introduced to the concept of division. Students will be introduced to the concept of division in math. Students will take notes on what division consists of, copy examples, practice some examples as a group, then they will work on a few more examples as guided practice. Students will work on a few examples on their own (independent practice) towards the end of class. I will explain division first with visual examples, they will learn that division consists of forming groups with an equal number of items. After a few visual examples, students will also learn that there could be items left behind without a group and they will learn that this could be explained as a remainder of the quotient. We will follow our lesson by now using the division symbol to continue dividing numbers. Students will complete examples first where the quotient will be a whole number. Then learners will also get to see that some problems will have a remainder. As students work through their independent practice division examples I will constantly be checking for understanding and guide them towards the right answer if needed.
