Class Experience

***Ongoing course, which means that no lessons depend on each other.***

***If your child is in a lower grade level grade and bored during the summer this course can be a great introductory course or a challenge at a 5th grade level. ***

This summer course is intended as a review of topics covered in 5th grade math. Please look at the list attached for the topics that will be covered. If your child is in 5th grade and you would like for them to review what they learned before heading to 6th grade math this is a great class for you. Students will cover a different topic each day. We will start class by taking notes on the topic of the day. We will work on guided practice examples and students will be encouraged to participate so that I can check for understanding and comprehension. This will give me an opportunity to clarify any misconceptions. Students will then work on the assignment, getting an opportunity to work independently while still checking their work with me. Students will end class with notes to use to review on their own. This class is not meant to teach in detail each lesson, this course will be a review for topics that students have seen before.

These are lessons that I have taught both in a public school with a class of 30 students and in private tutoring setting, and I have always been able to identify the misconceptions regarding this lesson. This helps me adjust the lesson to individual needs.
