Class Experience

Why do some things sink and others float? It has to do with density. What is density? Come find out!

In this class, I will guide the students as we do the science experiments together. Students can conduct the experiments alongside the teacher from home or simply observe. There will be time for questions and showing off your experiments as we go. Since this is for young learners, having a parent nearby is highly recommended in case of messes.

We will start with simple introductions and classroom rules.

Our objective is to explore density using the simplified scientific method.
1. Ask a Question (What if we ____)
2. Make a Hypothesis (I think ____ will happen)
3. Test With an Experiment
4. Did the Procedure Work? (What way do you like better? Why?)

Day 1: Sink or Float
Day 2: Upside Down Fireworks in a Jar/ Lava Lamp
Day 3: Rainbow Density

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love looking around me and asking questions. "What if....?" Science is full of "what if" questions. Come explore simple science experiments with me. Most of the items can be found around your home or easily found at the store. I also have a love for math... especially math games. Join me as we make math fun! Many parents and learners appreciate the way I bring laughter to the classroom.

I have been an educator for 10 years: online ESL teacher for 5 years, and a Kindergarten teacher for 5 years before that. I have worked with children of all ages in various summer school and online activities. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education from Boise State University and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Multnomah University. I live in Idaho, USA with my husband and my 2 young daughters (Ages 2 and 5). We enjoy reading books, getting a little messy, and taking walks together.
