Beat the Teacher! Private Lessons Using Math Games in Grades K-2

This private lesson will meet once a week. Each week we will focus on a different math concept with fun, competitive games. I will start with the basics (number bonds to make 10, doubling, greater than/less than, money, addition, subtraction, etc). If your learner is struggling with a certain concept at school, I can try to find a game to corresponds to that unit. In addition to learning math, they will learn to demonstrate good sportsmanship no matter who wins that week. My one rule is...
Learners will learn number recognition, pattern awareness, and practice writing numbers. They will learn the number bonds to make 10 (2+8, 3+7, etc). They will learn double numbers (up to double 10). Learners will take turns to help their team beat the teacher. They will be good sportsmen no matter if they win or don't win.
I have always loved math and working with numbers. My father was a self-proclaimed math magician (a magician who used math as the solution to his magic tricks). He instilled in me a love for numbers and patterns. I hope to help others have the same perspective. I taught Kindergarten in a private school for 5 years and used manipulatives to help teach math.
We may need these items in any class: -dice -playing cards (remove face cards) - these can be poker cards, uno cards, flashcards, etc -whiteboard -whiteboard pen -paper -pencil Any special printouts will be attached in the classroom before class begins.
