This is a weekly ongoing class where 10 new Greek and Latin roots and/or prefixes and suffixes are introduced every week. (Plus 5 SAT prep words) Learn Vocabulary the fun and easy way!
Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
Each week a new set of 10 Latin and Greek root words (and prefixes and suffixes), and at least 5 vocabulary words from sources such as SAT prep will be introduced and studied then we will play a game with the words on that same day to learn the root words and vocabulary. Latin and Greek roots word topics include science, medical terminology, legal terms, art, and much more. - By learning root words each week, learners have the potential to increase their vocabulary by hundreds of words. Many of these root words are also roots in the romance languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian) so learning them can aid in the study of the romance languages as well as English.
I have been teaching English in both public school and online school now for nearly 20 years.
Leaner will not need any supplies other than their brain and a willingness to learn.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will avoid some root words involving anatomy.
I will provide the 15 words each week with their origin (Latin or Greek) and their meanings in class.
