100 Latin and Greek Root Words in 5 Days
Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
This is a fast-paced vocabulary class. It is designed to fit into a one week schedule. Again, It moves very fast. There will be homework on learning root words and affixes every night of the class. This class requires some memorization of root words and affixes each night. Day 1 Monday - Introduction to Latin and Greek Root words and Affixes. Why do we need to know if the roots are Latin or Greek based? How did these two languages come to make up 80 plus percent of English vocabulary....
Each root word can be the root for multiple English words making it possible for a learner to use each of the 100 root words to add 100s to their vocabulary. For Example: The Greek word for water is Hydros. From hydros we get hydrophobic (something that will not mix well with water) Hydraulics, hydroponics, hydrate, the hydrologic cycle, hydrant, etc.
I have been teaching English in both public school and online school now for nearly 20 years.
