1-2 hours per week. There is a 30 question, multiple choice, homework assignment after each lesson. (sometimes two 15 question worksheets) Alternatively, some homework may be fill in the blank. An answer key will be provided to the homework as an attachment on the following lesson. Learners and parents can check the homework of the previous class. If a grade is desired, the learner or parent can message me the number of missed answers for a grade. Alternatively, the learner or parent can turn the homework into me for a grade if they wish. (see below) If learners or parents opt to turn in the homework for a grade, it will require some means to attach the work to the classroom by either scanning it in or taking a photograph of the work. The work must be legible in the photos in order for me to grade it. If the parent and learner takes the grade option, I will give final grades based on homework completion and a final exam after lesson 7.Assessment
There will be one comprehensive final exam after the 7th and final lesson.Grading
If the parent and learner opt for the grade option, I will grade each assignment by the method outlined in the homework policy and assessment policy above. I will post the grade of each assignment in the appropriate section and I will give a final class percentage and letter grade based on homework completion and a final exam after lesson 7.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This course teaches grammar skills and how to construct sentences with proper grammar and punctuation. It is very difficult to write coherent essays when you don't understand the rules of grammar and writing. This is what I come across in my essay classes. Learners get the format for writing essays but make too many simple grammar and punctuation mistakes. This course will help learners understand not only the parts of speech and how those parts of speech fit together to make great sentences, but also the punctuation needed to write terrific essays with ease. Our classes will be presented via pre-recorded videos from the instructor. There is no requirement for learners to meet live or to appear onscreen. I strive to use humor and to make the videos interesting. At the end of each video lesson, the learner will be directed to a homework assignment covering the lesson learned. This assignment will vary, but in most cases, it will be a 30 question multiple choice, printable, worksheet. Occasionally, there will be a fill in the blank or other style assignment other than multiple choice. Learner progress will be evaluated by completed homework and final exam. (See homework policy below for details,) I will be available at any time through the message system to answer any questions and to offer feedback by request. My turnaround time on messages is under 24 hours. I strive to answer messages as quickly as possible.
Learning Goals
Students will improve and expand their knowledge of grammar and writing skills. They will learn the parts of speech, how to correctly punctuate them, and how to use them to construct varied sentences.
