1-2 hours per week. There will be no specific homework. Outside work will consist of noticing things in their lives, paying attention to their thoughts, taking small smart risks, etc.Class Experience
In this class we'll talk about what confidence is and how to develop your confidence. This class will meet 1 time per week over 6 weeks for an immersive experience with time to practice the principles as we go. This will help create a better understanding and embodiment of confidence. Students will be asked to think about ways they use confidence in their own lives, ways they see others use confidence, what they think confidence is, and what they need more confidence to do in their lives. They will learn how to build more confidence. And how to hold onto their confidence when life gets tough. Daily flow: I will begin the call a few minutes before class begins to help the students get their Nearpod lesson set up and give them the code. Greetings and sharing "what's going good in your world" (to help us focus toward the positive). Next we'll go to the Nearpod lesson and work through the days materials with collaboration boards and discussions. We'll end with a brief (5 minute) heart-centered meditation reinforcing some of the learnings of the day. Here is a basic outline for each day, however we allow the conversation to evolve naturally as well, spending more time in areas needed. Day 1: What is confidence and where do you see confidence in your world? Where do you see fake confidence? Day 2: What do you personally need confidence for? Who are your role models? How can you build more confidence in your life? Day 3: Being a person of action. Taking small steps and coaching yourself. Day 4: Values, what they are and how to discover yours. Day 5: Taking smart risks. The benefits of failure and how to move through it. The danger of perfectionism and your comfort zone. Day 6: The power of your thoughts to create your world and recognizing supportive relationships in your life. This class will be both discussion based and we will also be using a Nearpod lesson as an interactive technology. The student will open the class in Outschool (Zoom meeting) and they will also open another web page: join.nearpod.com. The Nearpod lesson is interactive with collaboration boards for us to gather our ideas together and also remain anonymous. We create our conversation around the things the students are contributing to the collaboration board. Each student is given the opportunity to discuss their ideas.
