Warrior Cats fans are passionate about this series! It activates creativity and imaginative thinking. ****UPDATE: WE HAVE MOVED INTO A SPACE OF PRIMARILY ROLE-PLAY IN ALL SECTIONS OF THIS CLASS. NEW LEARNERS JOINING WILL BE INSTRUCTED IN HOW TO CREATE AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER (OC) AND THEY WILL BE TAKEN ON A TOUR OF THE TERRITORY AND INTRODUCED TO THE CLAN. Students will be practicing active listening, patiently taking turns, creative thinking, cooperation and putting together cohesive thoughts in a way that others can understand. We will allow room for respectful comments and conversations around the answers given, versus simply question and answer.
I love books and have always been a big reader. In fact, I sometimes joke that I should have been a librarian. I did work in a book store during college and assisted in the story time activities for kids. When my own daughter was learning to read, it was the Warrior Cats books that brought out her love of reading. She went from a reluctant reader to a voracious reader. I want to foster this love of reading in others and allow their creativity to take them beyond the books.
Students will be encouraged to create and share their own narrative, original characters and ideas, however there will not be required homework.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
