Class Experience

In this ongoing social skills class, we will use conversation starters (games, conversation cards etc.) to help kids engage in conversation. We will be working on skills such as turn taking, keeping conversation flowing, staying on topic, listening to our classmates and making appropriate comments ....all while having fun and making friends! We will talk about our favorite things and play conversation games including: "would you rather", "don't break the chain", "this or that" and "my favorite things". Conversation games are used to help facilitate students sharing about themselves and asking questions of one another. The teacher of this class will facilitate the conversation and prompt students to support them a needed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a mom of two teens who have autism. I homeschool them, as well as tutor other children on the autism spectrum in many different areas. I love working with the special needs population and use their abilities and interests to help them reach their goals.
