Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner Level
In this ongoing class we will explore a different artist each week. We will talk briefly about the life of the artist, their work, and then students will create their own masterpiece or do an exercise that is inspired by the work of that artist.

We will talk about color, composition, creativity, and also the proper use of materials and clean up.

We will explore painting with watercolor and acrylic and also do some drawing and oli pastel art. Note that the supplies list may vary every week but the list won't stray from the general list of supplies for the class (see supplies list)

The class will be step by step allowing time for each learner to create their art and be proud of what they create.

The supplies may vary slightly each week, but will not stray from this general list. We may not use every material for every class. I will send a detailed list every week a few days before the class. If you don't have the right supplies for the week we can improvise no problem.

- A watercolor set
- A brush (any size will do)
- A small set of acrylic paints (or tempera/poster paint)
- Pencil
- A cup with water to clean the brush
- Set of crayons
- Set of Oil Pastels
- Heavy white paper (watercolor paper or mixed media paper)
- Regular white drawing paper (can be paper from copy machine)
- Table protection (newspaper, butcher paper etc).

I have been teaching private art lessons for 27 years and I'm my 21st year teaching art in the classroom (elementary through high school). I have been teaching on Outschool for about 5 year and have enjoyed every aspect of teaching art! I love seeing students succeed when they aren't confident in their skills. I love seeing the growth in their skills and in their art. It's such a fun and rewarding experience!
