In this 3 day class we will explore artists Monet, Matisse, and Van Gogh, and then recreate paintings using crayon and watercolor. Students will have fun learning about the artists & creating their own art inspired by their work.
Class experience
In this 3 day class we will talk briefly about a different artist each day. The artists will be Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, and Henri Matisse. We will discuss a their life and their artwork, and then students will create their own masterpiece using crayon and watercolor. We will talk about color, composition, creativity, and also the proper use of materials and clean up. The students will be able to create their pieces based on the artists' work, but in their own style and with their own...
Each learner will need: - A watercolor set - A brush (any size will do) - A cup with water to clean the brush - Set of crayons (or oil pastels) - A black Sharpie (or black permanent marker) - Heavy white paper (watercolor paper is preferred but not completely necessary) - Table protection (newspaper, butcher paper etc).
Parents are encouraged to be close by during the class to help their learner with the painting process to minimize spills (especially with electronics close by!) and to make sure their paints stay on the paper.
