Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
I enjoy teaching a weekly, ongoing art class for many reasons. I love being able to see the same students each week to really connect and watch them grow as an artist and to watch the students become friends with each other to build their own sense of community by connecting with the same students each week.

This weekly art class is ongoing through the the summer starting late June and ending the last week in July.

Note: The 2023-2024 School Year of Art will start September and end in May.

In these classes we will talk about color mixing, elements of art like color, line and shape. We will be creating art with paint, watercolors, oil and chalk pastels, creating mixed media and recycled art projects.

If an upcoming project needs a special supply I will notify you in advance so you have plenty of time to gather what might be needed. However, for most of the art projects we will be using the same variety of supplies.

*In my classes I love to dedicate the first few minutes to visiting as a class. If your learner is more comfortable using the chat box, then that’s perfect too! We will can use both! I like how this sets the tone for our time together, helping those that might be a little nervous or new to virtual learning. It helps create that supportive and welcoming space to create.
Learning Goals
Each week depending on the project we will have opportunities to discuss the elements of art, learn about a famous artist and their style of art, as well as learning different art techniques along the way.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Kristi! I am a homeschool teacher and an art teacher in Texas! I have 2 children that are in 11th & 7th grade this next year! I absolutely love being involved in my kids education!

I am the owner of Wolf Circus Art Studio and Evolve Volleyball Club. I teach art classes for Pre-K to 6th grade, host art parties, teach macrame, and make pottery. I have been teaching art lessons for over 10 years and I love connecting with children through art! I have experience teaching lessons in a private art studio setting as well as summer camps and online.

I also am the Art & Crafts Director for a non-profit called Salute the Kids. Salute the Kids is a charity that supports military children and families through camping adventures. I create and teach all of the arts and crafts projects and host a family art night at camp. Working with military children is such a gift.

I am so excited to be here on Outschool with the opportunity to teach, connect, and create some really cool art with your artist! I most certainly know I will learn and be inspired by them as well!

When I am not teaching you can find me hanging out with my family, making pottery, playing volleyball, taking care of my cacti, or trying to talk my husband into rescuing another Chihuahua. You can never have too many Chihuahuas ;) I have 5 now!

Hope to see you in class!!
Mrs. Kristi
