Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this one-time class, we will learn about the sun, moon, planets, asteroids, comets, & more, and create a beautiful work of art about the solar system! We will learn fun facts about these celestial bodies, and we will create our own artwork of the solar system. We will also learn art techniques that include color blending & shading. By doing so, we will learn about the elements of art and the principles of design. After creating the artwork together, we will engage in a discussion in which each learner will have the option to share their artwork with the group and talk about it. This concluding activity promotes positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills. This class is also available as a 1:1 private tutoring class. Please message me for details.
Learning Goals
This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By focusing on our solar system and creating a work of art, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of our universe and our place in it. In addition, by learning about the elements of art and the principles of design, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of how they provide the building blocks of art, as well as our world around us. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion. Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the artwork they create.
