Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this ongoing course, we will learn about art as a fully customized curriculum. First, we will discuss your learner's educational needs and goals. Whether it is learning a drawing technique, sharpening design skills, or simply gaining an appreciation through art by observing and discussing famous artists, I will meet your learner where they are and provide art lessons that will enhance their ability to learn about and appreciate art, and they will also learn tips and tricks that artists use to help them feel confident as a budding artist! Once I understand where your learner is and where they want to go in art, I can then tailor a curriculum that will meet their specific educational needs and goals. After the discussion and art lesson, we will engage in a discussion in which your learner will have the option to share their artwork with me and talk about it. This concluding activity promotes positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills.
Learning Goals
This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By observing, discussing, and creating art, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of how the elements of art are utilized in art as well as in life, and how together they provide the building blocks of art, as well as our world around us. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion. Additionally, your learner will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the our discussion as well as into the artwork they create.
