In this 5 day class we will talk briefly about a different artist each day. The artists will be Hokusai, Alma Thomas, David Hockney, Yayoi Kusama, and Wayne Thiebaud. We will discuss a their life and artwork, and then students will create their own masterpiece using crayon and watercolor. Day 1 - We will explore Hokusai and his series of work called 36 View of Mt Fuji. We'll plan to talk a little bit about the artist and then create a masterpiece based on his work. Day 2 - Alma Thomas is our artist for day 2. We'll look at her work called Apollo 12 "Splash Down" from 1970. She was a great artist and we'll have fun recreating her work. Day 3 - We are going to look at the UK artist David Hockney. He is known for his colorful and pop art style and is still alive and creating art today! We'll have a great time recreating his work and learning about his life. Day 4 - Yayoi Kusama is our next artist. She is a Japanese artist who is known for her dot paintings and art. She is still alive and continues to create art. We'll have fun with her Flower Garden from 1989 Day 5 - We will conclude the camp with an American artist Wayne Thiebaud. We'll explore his life and work and be inspired by his work with desserts and sweets. We'll do a recap of the week of art and have fun looking at everything we have achieved for the week! The students will be able to create their pieces based on the artists' work, but in their own style and with their own personality and creativity. The class will be step by step allowing time for each learner to create their piece and be proud of what they create. No experience is needed, but some parental help could be needed if the student is younger. Please look at the supplies list for everything needed for this lesson!

I love seeing the growth in their skills and in their art. It's such a fun and rewarding experience!
