US Grade 3
Being able to tackle and solve division word problems are essential skills for any 3rd grade student. Students often feel uneasy when beginning to learn how to solve division problems, however, with 5 simple strategies in their toolbox, they will feel confident when approaching any problem. In this class students will learn how to understand and apply the strategies of repeated subtraction, arrays, equal groups, fact families, and understanding remainders. My teaching style is very energetic and I structure every lesson using the gradual release of responsibility model. In this model students begin every lesson with very high support form the teacher, then move into a period of discussion and working together with peers to solve problems. At the end of every lesson students are then given time to attempt some problems independently and then we will go over the answers to these problems before moving on. After each class students will also be given an extra practice worksheet to further practice the strategy taught in that day's class. Following is an outline for the order in which each strategy will be taught in this camp: Day 1: Repeated Subtraction Day 2: Arrays Day 3: Equal Groups Day 4: Fact Families Day 5: Understanding Remainders
Learning Goals
Students will be able to understand and apply the following division strategies to solve word problems: repeated subtraction, arrays, equal groups, fact families, and understanding remainders.

Hello Outschool families, and welcome to Teaching Done Different by Ashley Chambers!
A Message From the Founder:
As a current 3rd grade public school teacher of 5 years and a current Outschool teacher, I know that students simply learn different today than they did only a few years ago. This knowledge has required me to find creative and fun ways to provide Common Core curriculum to students in a different and refreshing ways that fits how kids learn today. When designing classes for Teaching Done Different it is always my aim to help students learn rigorous material in such a fun way that they don't even realize they are learning.
