In this class students will be focussing on a different Dog Man character each week that students will have the opportunity to draw and the write their own original narrative story about (either in paragraph or comic form).

Welcome to the hilarious and eventful world of Dog Man! This group is designed to get Dog Man fans drawing and writing about some of their favorite characters with the opportunity for them to share their creations with other fans of the series. In this group we will be focusing on a different Dog Man character each week and students will be encouraged to practice drawing this character using the step-by-step guide in the back of their Dog Man book. Students will then be encouraged to write their own creative writing story about this character either in paragraph or comic form. Once students have written their short creative writing story about their character they can share their story by uploading a picture, typing their story as a comment in the forum, or utilizing a weekly FlipGrid link to share their story in video format. Each week I will be posting the focus character for the week in our group forum, and I will also be posting my own drawing and story that I have created for that week's character as an example. Throughout the week I will be monitoring our group forum and also leaving positive comments on work that students have shared. Students are expected to make sure that all content and comments that they post are both respectful and appropriate for a classroom setting. Students who chose to not follow these rules will first be contacted privately by me to be reminded of our group expectations, and then parents will be contacted if issues continue. As always, the goal is to make this group a fun, inviting, and encouraging community space where students can share their talents and passions with other Dog Man fans.

As a current 3rd grade public school teacher of 5 years and a current Outschool teacher, I know that students simply learn different today than they did only a few years ago. This knowledge has required me to find creative and fun ways to provide Common Core curriculum to students in a different and refreshing ways that fits how kids learn today.
