Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
In this class students will get to practice their reading fluency and comprehension skills each week as they enjoy a different Magic Treehouse book each week in a comfortable classroom environment. This class is taught by Ashley Chambers, a current full time public school teacher with 5 years of experience teaching reading in the classroom. Her teaching style is both energetic and supportive with the intent to make students love coming to class each week.

The structure of this class is set up to resemble small group reading instruction to promote a comfortable classroom environment where students feel confident reading in front of each other and sharing their ideas. In each class we will start by greeting each other as students are entering this classroom. Next, we will begin taking turns reading the assigned book for the week and we will stop periodically to discuss the characters and events as we read. At the end of class, students will be reminded which book we will be reading next and they will be reminded to check our class page 15 minutes after class to get access to the bonus activity worksheets that will be provided to them for each book. (Students must bring their own copy of the book to class each week.) Following is a schedule of which books will be read each week:

Hello Outschool families, and welcome to Teaching Done Different by Ashley Chambers!

A Message From the Founder:
As a current 3rd grade public school teacher of 5 years and a current Outschool teacher, I know that students simply learn different today than they did only a few years ago. This knowledge has required me to find creative and fun ways to provide Common Core curriculum to students in a different and refreshing ways that fits how kids learn today. When designing classes for Teaching Done Different it is always my aim to help students learn rigorous material in such a fun way that they don't even realize they are learning.
