By creating the outlines of their hand, the learners are utilizing the art element of shape, specifically the organic shape (as opposed to geometric shapes). They will also learn about various animals and their unique characteristics, including the science of animal classification. Finally, by creating their own animal, the learners are utilizing critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge of animals with their imagination.
