課堂經歷

Yoga has been shown to provide numerous benefits for both adults and children. It can help children manage their anxiety through breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. It can help improve their emotional regulation, self-esteem, body awareness, concentration, memory, strength, and flexibility. It can even teach discipline and reduce impulsivity!

In this ongoing class, we will practice doing a variety of yoga poses that help increase body and breath awareness as well as relax the mind. Each class will focus on learning one main pose, with a variety of poses warming up the body before the main pose is introduced. Students do not need any prior knowledge or skills for this class. In addition to learning yoga poses, students will also be guided on breathe control and body awareness. The structure of the class is as follows:

3 Minutes for arrival and greeting
4 Minutes for warm up
11 Minutes of salutations and/or poses to warm up specific muscles related to our main pose
2 Minutes of the main pose
5 Minutes of counter stretches, breathing and relaxation, and socialization

Children are required to have water and be in an open area where they can move freely without knocking into anyone or anything. Injuries can occur if not properly supervised. Exercise is not without its risks and this or any other exercise program may result in injury. As with any exercise program, if at any point during your workout you begin to feel faint, dizzy or have physical discomfort, you should stop immediately and consult a medical professional. You should always consult your physician or other healthcare provider before changing your diet or starting an exercise program. By purchasing this class you understand that there is a risk of injury associated with participating.

Students will need water, space to move, and bare feet. A yoga mat is recommended. Students are welcome to bring blocks and straps as well if they have them.
