In "Yoga for Young Minds: Playful Poses & Mindful Movement," your child will experience a 30-minute yoga class designed to nurture both body and mind. Each week, we’ll explore fun and simple yoga poses, breathing exercises, and mindfulness techniques that encourage strength, flexibility, and emotional balance. This class is built around a different theme every week—ranging from animals and nature to space and the ocean—to keep your child engaged and excited to learn. The class is structured with a combination of yoga practice, relaxation, and interactive activities. Each session will start with a short introduction to a new yoga concept or theme, followed by playful poses that align with the theme. Breathing exercises will help children connect with their bodies and calm their minds. To wrap up, we’ll enjoy a fun, themed game or creative activity that reinforces the lessons learned in class. I will teach through clear instructions and demonstrations, using stories, music, and games to make yoga accessible and enjoyable for young children. Expect to see lots of movement, fun imagery, and encouragement as your child is guided through each class. There will be plenty of opportunities for your child to interact with me, ask questions, and participate in games and poses with their peers. This class encourages a joyful, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere where children can build confidence and mindfulness. Perfect for beginners, "Yoga for Young Minds" is a space where your child can explore yoga in a playful, engaging, and educational way. March 16th Week 1: Welcome to Yoga! Philosophy: Brief history of yoga: Yoga started in India a long time ago to help people feel calm and strong. Introduce the importance of breathing: How deep breaths help calm our minds and energize our bodies. Breathing Exercise: Balloon Breath: Imagine blowing up a balloon, expanding the belly as you inhale and letting the air out slowly on the exhale. Poses: Mountain Pose Child’s Pose Downward Dog Cobra Pose Activity/Game: Yoga Name Game: Each child introduces themselves and does a simple pose. March 23rd Week 2: Animals in Yoga Philosophy: Yoga is inspired by nature. Many poses are named after animals! Discuss how mindfulness helps us connect with animals and nature. Breathing Exercise: Lion’s Breath: Roar like a lion while exhaling! Poses: Cat-Cow Butterfly Pose Frog Pose Snake Pose Activity/Game: Animal Yoga Freeze Dance: Kids move like animals when the music plays and freeze in a yoga pose when it stops. March 30th Week 3: Yoga and the Ocean Philosophy: Yoga helps us feel as calm and peaceful as the ocean. Mention that yoga is practiced in many coastal countries around the world. Breathing Exercise: Ocean Breath: Inhale deeply, then exhale with a "haaaa" sound like ocean waves. Poses: Starfish (Five-Pointed Star Pose) Boat Pose Dolphin Pose Mermaid Pose (Seated Side Stretch) Activity/Game: Yoga Island Adventure: Pretend to explore an island, stopping for yoga poses along the way. April 6th Week 4: Yoga in the Sky Philosophy: Talk about the sun and stars as symbols of light and energy in yoga. Meditation can feel like flying in the sky. Breathing Exercise: Sky Breath: Stretch arms up while inhaling, lower them like a falling star while exhaling. Poses: Warrior I (Sun Warrior) Crescent Moon Pose Airplane Pose Star Pose Activity/Game: Star Gazing Relaxation: Lie on mats, look at an imaginary sky, and point out stars (using props like glow-in-the-dark stickers). April 13th Week 5: Seasons of Yoga Philosophy: Yoga changes with the seasons, just like nature. Discuss mindfulness: Notice how each season makes you feel. Breathing Exercise: Spring Breeze Breath: Gentle inhale and exhale, imagining a cool breeze. Poses: Tree Pose (Spring) Sun Salutation (Summer) Leaf Pose (Fall - Forward Fold) Snowflake (Seated Forward Fold with arms open wide) Activity/Game: Seasonal Yoga: Call out a season, and kids pick a pose that represents it. April 20th Week 6: Yoga Around the World Philosophy: Yoga is practiced in different ways all over the world. Talk about how yoga brings people together. Breathing Exercise: Rainbow Breath: Visualize breathing in colors of the rainbow, one by one. Poses: Mountain Pose (representing tall mountains around the world) Camel Pose (deserts of the Middle East) Lotus Pose (India) Eagle Pose (South America) Activity/Game: Travel Yoga Adventure: Pretend to travel to different countries and do a pose inspired by that location. April 27th Week 7: Yoga and the Jungle Philosophy: Discuss how yoga helps us feel brave and strong like animals in the jungle. Meditation can help us listen to the quiet sounds of nature. Breathing Exercise: Bumblebee Breath: Inhale deeply, then hum while exhaling. Poses: Monkey Pose (Squat with arms swinging) Cobra Pose Tiger Pose (Tabletop with leg stretch) Elephant Pose (Forward Fold with arms swinging as a trunk) Activity/Game: Jungle Safari: Pretend to explore a jungle and pause for animal-inspired poses. May 4th Week 8: Yoga Celebration Philosophy: Review all the yoga lessons: Yoga helps our bodies, minds, and hearts. Meditation brings calm and happiness. Breathing Exercise: Gratitude Breath: Inhale while thinking of something you’re thankful for, exhale with a smile. Poses: Pick favorite poses from the past weeks. Activity/Game: Yoga Dance Party: Play music and let kids flow through their favorite poses. Closing Activity: Hand out small certificates or stickers celebrating their yoga journey!

Please ensure your child has a safe, open space to move freely during class. A non-slip yoga mat or a soft towel surface is recommended to provide comfort and stability. Children should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. While all poses are beginner-friendly, parental supervision is welcome, especially for younger learners, to ensure safety during movement-based activities.
