1-2 hours per week. Students are encouraged to write their resume following this class, however it is not formal 'homework.'Assessment
If a learner chooses to submit their completed resume (or draft) to the instructor, detailed written feedback will be given.Class Experience
By creating a resume at a young age, students will feel less pressure when applying for their first job or volunteer experience. Following these first experiences, learners can simply add to their existing resume. In this one-time class, learners will gain practical knowledge about writing a resume from scratch, as well as insight about how to market themselves and highlight their existing skill sets as a young person. The importance of quality resume writing will be emphasized throughout. This class will involve a combination of informative slides and examples, as well as interactive discussion questions (e.g. pros and cons of different resume templates and styles). At the end of class, learners will receive a one-page tip sheet that can be used as a guide for crafting their resume. Learners do not need any pre-requisite skills or past employment/volunteer experiences to be successful in this class. Following this 55-minute class, learners will be encouraged to create their own resume and send it to the instructor for feedback. This can happen at any point - even months down the road. One-on-one follow-up resume workshop sessions will be available upon request.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Alberta
Hello learners and families! I have so much gratitude for being a part of the Outschool community.
My undergraduate degree is in elementary education but I also have experience teaching in the junior high setting. I tutored grades 5-11 math for six years and enjoyed every hour I spent with the students. Though my intention was to create many math classes here on Outschool, I am finding that I love to design and teach classes that are more suited to the 'Life Skills' category. I love to break down tasks for students and empower them with academic skills that are often left out of the traditional curriculum: test-taking, studying, note-taking, etc.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing soccer and badminton, as well as training for long-distance running races (when there's no snow here in Canada!)
I fully believe that I will learn as much from the students as they will learn from me; I value collaboration and discussion. A question from a student is a "peek" into their brain for me.
I look forward to teaching your child!
