*NOTE: this class has been taught many times in "camp" format. Please see that listing for more updated reviews: https://outschool.com/classes/set-yourself-up-for-success-studying-and-note-taking-strategies-camp-5N2Iuw2B#us9UqeDKoQ. Upon completion of this three-class session, students will feel empowered to study effectively and feel more prepared for tests than ever before. Information will be provided through Google Slides, discussion, relevant examples, and opportunities to practice the skills they are learned. Students will each receive an information package outlining study strategies specific to their learning style. Objectives of the course: 1. Students will learn how to study effectively based on their specific learning style. 2. Students will gain an understanding of how information is encoded in the brain: the science of learning. 3. Students will learn different note-taking strategies. 4. Students will be given multiple strategies for memorizing and understanding information. 5. Students will practice study and note-taking strategies so they are prepared to apply them to their own schoolwork. In the first session, students will learn how different learning styles affect studying and learning; what happens in the brain when they are learning; and several note-taking strategies. After the first session, students will complete a short worksheet regarding learning styles and preferences. In the second session, students will review the worksheet to reveal their learning style and briefly learn about each learning style. Students will also revisit the note-taking strategies and have an opportunity to practice one strategy. After the second class, students will receive an individual package outlining study strategies specific to their learning style. During the third and final session, students will learn multiple strategies for memorizing and understanding information, building on the information learned in the first session about the brain. ***Please note that this class is also available as a FLEX style class combined with my most popular test-taking class: https://outschool.com/classes/studying-note-taking-and-test-taking-strategies-KArx33oI#us9UqeDKoQ
