Welcome to Mr. G's Career Exploration Class! Have you been wondering about careers, jobs, professions, and/or college? If you have been asking yourself this question recently then this is the class for you. The goal of the career exploration class is to examine information on career clusters and pathways, discuss and take a look at resources of information on different careers, as well as determine the difference between college and a career/technical school. This course provides a lot information, discussion, and examining the one key step in becoming career and/or college readiness. The transition into a career and/or college can seem stressful and overwhelming. My career exploration course is set up to help reduce some of that stress. Knowing about the different career clusters and pathways, and where to find the information is one of the most important steps as you start to navigate choices about careers and college. This course is set up to provide tons of information on careers, a process to help find information on careers or college, and a discussion forum to talk about what each student is thinking or any questions you may have about careers. In the 50 minute together we will examine the 16 career clusters and the many different career pathways within those clusters. The class will pull up helpful resources about careers and college. We will also want to spend class time finding out what students are thinking, answer any questions that are out there, and work together to navigate our way through the information. I have no doubt that this will be a class that is fun and provide so much when it comes to careers and college. As a life long learner myself - I have two Masters Degree - One is in Career and Technical Education. Career clusters and pathways (as well as college and career readiness) are at the foundation of this degree. As a principal I built a Career and Technical Education program for a school, and I have been a high school history teacher at a Career and Technical high school. I am looking very forward to bringing my knowledge and background to a career exploration class on Outschool.
Learning Goals
Career exploration is all about learning about the 16 career clusters and the 79 career pathways. The career exploration will also discuss a few aspect about college. As example: Is it better to get a major in college for this career or attend a career and technical school. Students will have the ability to explore the wide range of information about careers, get specific information on careers, and ask any questions they might have about careers.
