Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be given optional practice problems each night.
Assessment
There will be informal assessments throughout the class. I will ask students to use the chatbox and raise their hand.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
In this course, students will learn strategies for word problems. From the beginning, we will identify keywords and draw pictures to help solve the problems. Students will also learn clue words that help signal the operation to use. Emphasis will be placed on helping students determine how they would solve a problem. If there is time, they will do the math to solve the problem.

Day 1: What words are important? What are clue words for addition problems? Drawing pictures to help us. 

Day 2: What are the clue words for subtraction? Drawing pictures and identifying keywords practice. Subtraction vs. Addition. Which type of problem is it?

Day 3: What are the clue words for multiplication? Drawing pictures and keyword practice. Subtraction vs. Addition vs. Multiplication What type of problem is it? 

Day 4: What are the clue words for division? Drawing pictures and identity info keywords practice. Subtraction vs. Addition vs. Multiplication vs. Division. What type of problem is it? 

This class schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of students.
