Students will learn strategies to solving any type of math word problem
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 5
Students will be taught a new word problem strategy each time class meets. The first week will focus on is one step word problems. Week 2 will focus on multi-step word problems. Week 3, we will work on word problems with a hidden questions. Week 4 will be a mixed review for a final assessment. Students will have a homework to do after learning new strategies each week through video meeting. The first 15 minutes of each video session will go over a new lesson. Students will learn how to work through word problems with different strategies. Students will master addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills through word problems.
I LOVE MATH! I graduated as a major in Mathematics, have been a Math tutor for over 15 years. I have taught math in the public schools in New Jersey. I help students to gain confidence in Math and to learn to like it instead of being scared of the subject
Homework Offered
10 word problems a week and review game0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
There will be a final test given during week 4 at the end of the course.Grades Offered
I will provide all worksheets and websites. Students will need paper and pencil!
