Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 7
One of my favorite parts of being a teacher is supporting students in the classroom. In this twenty-five-minute session, I will be customizing the lesson to the needs of the student. One of my strengths as a teacher is breaking things down so that students master each step before moving on to the next step.

When a parent signs up, I ask the parent to message me anything I need to know about the child. It is also helpful for the parent to message me the name of any curriculum (textbook name) that the child is using. Every school teaches math differently, so knowing the curriculum can help me teach the student similar to the way they are being taught in school.

I will also ask parents to message me about how they would like the class run. There are many options.

Option 1: I can reteach or pre-teach content taught in class for the student. I ask that you let me know at least a day ahead of time what the student is learning in class. I will design a lesson plan based on this. Usually, you can message your child's classroom teacher and tell them that you would like to know upcoming topics in class.

Option 2: I can review the previous year's content with students or challenge them with activities. This will be a custom lesson plan. If you select this option, I will go through the standards for the grade level (information that students need to know) and design lesson plans.

Option 3: I will help students complete their math homework. I ask that you take a picture of the homework at least one hour before class and send it to me through Outschool messenger. This allows me to review it.

How do I teach my classes?
I teach my math classes by screen sharing or using a virtual whiteboard. This allows students to see the math clearly. I often encourage students to try to annotate and write on the screen as well, so that I can see how they are solving the problem. It also allows me to catch any errors the student may make.

How do we do scheduling?
This class is an ongoing class. If you cannot make a class, please message me at least 72 hours before.
