11 hrs 15 mins in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. Homework will be given to children. It is optional. I supply answers, so that students can check their work. Please note that I do not give homework every night. If students are not ready to work on problems independently, I will wait until the next night to give out homework. I do this to avoid frustration.Assessment
I used informal assessments. Students show me their work or submit their work in the chat. I keep class sizes small, so that I know the level of each child in the class.Class Experience
US Grade 3
***This class is one-quarter of the full-year third-grade curriculum. The class meets in quarters of the school year to better meet the needs of students and their school schedules.*** This class when combined with quarters 1-3 will cover all the material students need to master in third grade. In each class, I will introduce the topic to students by modeling how to solve the problems. Then, we will work together to solve the problems as a class. Throughout this, I will ask students to submit answers in the chat or hold up pieces of paper with answers. This shows me that students are ready to try to answer on their own. Finally, I will have students practice on their own. I keep class numbers small so that I know how each student is doing in the class. I adjust the pace of the class to meet the needs of the students. If students really understand a concept, we will spend less time on it. If students are having difficulty with a subject, we will spend more time on it. In addition to seeing that each student is able to solve the problems on their own, I also ask students how they feel about a topic before we move on. I have them do this anonymously through the chat. At the beginning of the course, I let students know that they can stop me at any time to ask a question or they can also put a message in the chat. I encourage students to let me know if they are not understanding what I am trying to teach them. I explain to them that very often I can present the topic in a different way, so they should let me know. This also teaches students to advocate for themselves in school. My goal at the end of the course is to not only teach students math but to teach them skills they will need for the rest of their life. I try to teach students to be curious and to ask questions when they do not know the answer. I am a general education teacher and special education teacher. Feel free to reach out to me and talk to me about your child and their learning. I would love to help in any way that I can. Data/Graph Interpretation/Measurement/Shapes 1. Picture Graphs 2.
