PREREQUISITES: Students need to have fluent knowledge of how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers (0, 1, 2, 3,...). **Please note that students must be able to print the class notes to be most successful in this course. It is possible to copy the notes down before class if printing is not a possibility. Printable PDF notes will be sent to students 24 hours before class is set to begin.** Order of Operations/Integer Operations (Week 1 of 10) We will begin with reviewing the order of operations using PEMDAS. An interactive foldable will be provided digitally so students can take notes and reference our method. We will review/learn and practice how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative numbers. Lots of examples are given in an interactive format and students will be challenged to complete practice problems during class. We will be checking together throughout the class with lots of encouragement! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the Full Course: The entire course covers the fundamental building blocks in math that are necessary for success in prealgebra and algebra I. I take some of the most common areas students need reinforcement in and package them into this course. This class offers students printable guided notes to follow along with during class. One of my favorite aspects about the full semester course is students will leave with a math notebook they can reference for the years to come - a worthwhile investment! Full Semester Content: Week 1 - Order of Operations/Integer Operations Week 2 - Distributive Property Week 3 - Combining Like Terms Week 4 - Solving One-Step Equations Week 5 - Solving One-Step Equations (Word Problems) Week 6 - Solving Two-Step Equations Week 7- Solving Two-Step Equations (Word Problems) Week 8 - Solving Through Substitution Week 9 - Pythagorean Theorem Part 1 of 2 Week 10 - Pythagorean Theorem Part 2 of 2

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Mathematics
The courses I offer center around core math topics in pre-algebra and algebra. I like to focus on the important building blocks students need to master in middle school and early high school in order to succeed in high school and beyond. Some of these topics cover proportionality, equations, inequalities, basic geometry, algebraic expressions, and arithmetic.
I am a certified teacher for grades 4-8 math and have over four years of professional experience teaching math to students ranging from grades 3 to 12. I taught seventh grade math while getting my credentials and taught my first year of seventh grade math at an amazing school. Though I left full-time teaching when I became a mother in 2019, I have continued to pursue my passion for teaching math part-time via various platforms.
My philosophy that drives my teaching is that every student is a unique person who is worthy of my time. I have the patience to work with students who are struggling in math and the ability to push students who are naturally inclined towards math. My goals when working with students are to teach and encourage.
When I'm not teaching/tutoring I can be found snuggling my babies, spending quality time with friends and family, and playing disc golf with my wonderful husband.
