This course combines direct instruction with an abundance of practical, hands-on activities that encourage students to apply geometric concepts in meaningful ways. Each class is designed to build on the previous one, gradually increasing in complexity and encouraging students to think critically about how geometry affects both the natural and constructed world. Group projects facilitate teamwork and allow students to experiment with ideas and learn from each other under the guidance of an experienced instructor. In each session of our Pre-Algebra Foundations series, we embody a teaching philosophy centered on three pivotal actions: Engage, Encourage, and Empower. We strive to engage students with interactive and hands-on mathematical activities that make learning both fun and meaningful, connecting abstract concepts to real-world applications that resonate with their everyday experiences. By fostering a supportive and dynamic classroom environment, we encourage students to express their thoughts, ask questions, and explore new ideas without fear of making mistakes, promoting a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement. Ultimately, our goal is to empower each student by building confidence in their mathematical abilities and equipping them with the tools they need to solve problems creatively and independently. This approach not only enhances their immediate learning outcomes but also lays a solid foundation for future academic success and a lifelong appreciation for the power and beauty of mathematics.
