Description
Class Experience
Students participating in this class will: -practice basic math operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) -evaluate expressions using the order of operations (PEMDAS) -use inverse operations to solve equations -review problem solving strategies that can be used to help solve word problems
I LOVE math! I love finding creative and interesting ways to deliver instruction while helping students build their math sense. After 25 years of teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 to students with a variety of skill levels, including 5 years teaching online to students learning from home, I feel uniquely qualified to provide learners with the tools they need to become masters of mathematics!
No homework will be given, however, students will be encouraged to practice skills daily. Upon request, I can suggest resources and websites should students need to explore a particular topic further. Students can also get additional practice by signing up for other courses I offer, particularly the "Help, I've Fallen and Can't Catch Up" which supports the individual needs of the learner.
Students should have notebook paper and something to write with while in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be provided with feedback during the class. Many of the puzzles we will solve as a group will have scrambled answers provided, which will allow students to check themselves as they are working.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
