Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 7
Get ready for seventh grade with this interactive summer math camp! In this engaging 6th Grade Math Review & 7th Grade Prep course, students will review key sixth-grade math concepts to strengthen skills and build confidence before entering seventh grade. Topics include ratios, fractions, integers, coordinate planes, algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, and real-world word problems.

What to Expect:
- Interactive Learning – Each lesson begins with a discussion to assess students’ prior knowledge and connect math to real-life situations.
- Engaging Instruction – Using the "I Do, We Do, You Do" method, students will first observe, then practice together, and finally apply their skills independently with support.
- Hands-On Practice – Students will solve math problems, graph equations, and complete real-world challenges.
- Critical Thinking & Discussion – Thought-provoking questions will encourage problem-solving and deeper understanding.
- Homework & Review Materials – Extra practice worksheets and review materials are provided to reinforce skills.

Who Should Enroll?
- Best for ages 10-14 or learners who want to review sixth-grade math before starting seventh grade.
- Students should have some familiarity with fractions, decimals, number operations, and basic algebra concepts.
- Great for summer learning, skill reinforcement, or homeschool enrichment!

Class Requirements:
📝 Materials Needed: A whiteboard & marker or paper & pencil. Worksheets may be provided (posted 24+ hours in advance).
💻 Teacher-Led Instruction: Lessons and activities will be shared via screen; no additional apps required.
🧮 Calculator Required: A scientific calculator is recommended. A free online calculator can be used as an alternative.

Other Details

Learning Needs
We have experience working with learners of all abilities, including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD and more. Learners of all abilities are welcomed and encouraged to join us in class. Please contact us for more information.
Parental Guidance
Learners may need to print PDF worksheets from the classroom before class. The teacher will post any materials to the classroom at least 24 hours in advance. A calculator is also required for this course. Learners should have a scientific calculator. An online-based calculator or app will work as well.
Pre-Requisites
- No prior classes required! - Students should have a basic understanding of fractions, decimals, basic algebraic concepts, and number operations. - Ideal for learners ages 10-14 who want to review sixth-grade math and build confidence.

Scientific calculator (web-based or app is okay!)

This curriculum was developed by and used with the permission from Ms. Ashley, an SBA admin and teacher. Ms. Ashley graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in both education and mathematics. Later, she went on to also earn a TESOL teacher’s certificate. She has taught over 10,000+ virtual classes in all subjects over several years on different platforms. She has 18+ years of tutoring/teaching experience, both virtual and in-person, as well as 16 years+ of experience as a volunteer teacher, tutor, and coach in schools and classrooms. In addition to teaching, Ms. Ashley is part of curriculum development and review team for an online ELA and math teaching/tutoring company, where she also serves as a Learning Partner and Academic Advisor for incoming students. Other related experience includes ELA and math tutoring the University of Connecticut Student Center, substitute teaching in the public school system and working for five years as a Financial Controller of a litigation support firm with offices across the United States. Ms. Ashley truly values each and every student, and she hopes to help them to find a love of learning.
