In this weekly class math class, young learners will have the opportunity to socialize with like minded math lovers while also being challenged to develop their mathematical thinking through a different math game each week. While a specific math concept will be reviewed/targeted each week, the emphasis will be on the development of overall number sense that can be integrated throughout the math curriculum. This will be a time of fun, games, and laughter among those of us who love to play with numbers and just need a place to chill with people who share our love of all things math. If that sounds like you, come join us! We'd love to meet you! Week of 5/19/25: Oh No! (+/-/x/number sense) Week of 3/31/25: A, J, Z (Place Value/Number Sense) Week of 4/7/25: Battleship (Coordinate Grids) Week of 4/14/25: Number Battle (Properties of Equations/Order of Operations/+/-/x) Week of 4/21/25: Make It Great (Place Value) Week 4/28/25: Campout (Properties of Numbers) Week 5/5/25: Twenty Questions (Properties of Numbers) Week 5/12/25: Broken Calculator (Properties of Equations/Order of Operations/+/-/x)

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a former fifth grade Math/Science teacher and FIRST LEGO League Robotics coach, I have spent countless hours helping elementary school aged children discover the wonder of learning through play. My work as a Gifted and Talented Specialist also taught me the importance of inspiring children to look beyond the obvious to the abstract and helped me to see the joy that comes from viewing every child through the lens of his or her strengths. I have a degree in Biology and have also spent several years working with gifted and talented students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. This gives me a unique perspective as I work alongside my learners, gently guiding their thinking and helping them to discover exciting new truths about the world around them.
