Note: This class is a follow up to "Sound it Out: From Letters to Words." Students who are confident with CVC words are welcome to start with this class. Learners will build on their knowledge of letter-sounds, phonemic awareness, and blending/segmenting of sounds. Learners will add digraphs sh, ch, th, and wh, initial and final consonant blends, "magic e" words, and other phonics skills to improve reading.
I am a certified elementary teacher with years of experience in preschool and second grade. I have also taught ESL for 3 years on-line, and hold an MA in Teaching from Dominican University. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach through IMSE (30-hour morphology plus course) and the Reed Charitable Foundation (30-hour classroom educator course).
