Solving Multiple Step Equations in Simple Steps
What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
***Please make sure that the student has previously taken the following classes in order to fully grasp the material.*** "One-Step Equations" "Two-Step Equations" Students will learn the rules for adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying multiple step equations and demonstrate comprehension through examples. I will provide notes with the rules for solving multiple step equations and show detailed examples using the appropriate operations used to solve any multiple step equation. Once we have gone over the rules and a few examples, students will be ready to demonstrate comprehension through working out problems on a worksheet. Using their notes, students will be able to break down the problem to find the value of the variable. Students will substitute the value of the variable back into the original equation to check that the value is correct and makes the equation true. The purpose of this lesson is to introduce, practice and extend. Students will leave the lesson with detailed notes organized in a manner that they will be able to come back to them for any future assignments they might have.
Learning Goals
The goal of this lesson is to help students learn about the operations needed to solve multiple-step equations fluently.
Other Details
Supply List
Please have your child come prepared to learn with a notebook, pencil, and highlighters or colored pens. Pencils will be needed to do the math, the pens are mostly to color or highlight answers to spot them faster.
2 files available upon enrollment
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University of Kingsville
Solving Multiple - Step Equations is a lesson I have taught both in a public school with a class of 20-30 students and in private tutoring setting, and I have always been able to identify the misconceptions regarding this lesson. I understand how students respond to it and it allows me to adjust my teaching style to individual needs.
