SPECIAL SUMMER DISCOUNT PRICE! **Learners are welcome to join the class any week during the summer.** The Outschool system automatically charges families based on the weeks left for the class to end. To clarify, since this class meets 4 weeks, if your learner enrolls (for example, with 2 weeks remaining in the class), you will be charged for the remaining two weeks they will attend. **Learner Review** Ms. Vanleer teaches so thoroughly and is very patient and good at explaining things. With her instruction and such a welcoming class atmosphere, my knowledge, comfort, and confidence with math has tremendously grown. I can't recommend her classes enough!! ------------------ As a person who struggled with math as a student, I can empathize with and relate to learners as they try to learn new and difficult concepts. I display patience with the learners, give them time to respond, and offer encouragement for their efforts. In this ongoing class, learners will meet twice a week to review and practice some core introductory Algebra 1 topics. Some topics include evaluating algebraic expressions, solving multi-step equations, and graphing equations. During each class, the new lesson will then be introduced. I will complete practice problems with the learners. They are encouraged to ask questions in class. I will make every effort to involve all learners in class participation. As appropriate, I incorporate review material into the lessons to further solidify the math concepts to the learners. After each class, practice exercises completed in class will be posted in the Outschool classroom. Learners will also receive a practice worksheet. Learners should print out and complete the practice exercises from each worksheet. (If you do not have access to a printer, your learner can write the exercises in a notebook.) A worksheet answer key will also be provided. This is a great way for learners and parents to check for understanding. Learners should be familiar with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Learners may join the class any week. (See class syllabus for weekly topics.) This class meets twice a week for 4 weeks. (Each summer session is identical.) Come prepared to listen and learn. I monitor learners' understanding (usually through facial expressions), so having the camera open is very helpful and adds to the class environment.
